Mrs. Michelle Andrews
Michelle attended CBA K-5 through 12th grade. In early elementary, the Lord began working in her heart a passion for teaching, and being involved in christian school ministry. She graduated from Northland International University in 2008 with a B.S. in Mathematical education, and began teaching at CBA that fall. She teaches math and sciences. In her free time, Michelle enjoys shopping, reading,swimming,Tigers baseball, garage-saling, helping with the AWANA program at church, and spending time with her husband Matt.
Mrs. Vivian Court
Señora Court has been teaching Spanish at CBA since 2006. She learned to speak Spanish at home in her native country of Cuba. After she moved to the USA, she earned a Bachelors degree and Masters degree in Business Administration from Florida International University.
Mrs. Court has two children, teaches in Junior Church, is involved in AWANA Cubbies, and works with her husband’s accounting practice. She loves teaching, children, gardening, and hot weather.
Pastor James Day
James came to Calvary in K-4 and graduated from here in 2002. After attending Bob Jones University, he began teaching in 2006 at a Springfield Christian School in Michigan. He later took on the responsibility of youth pastor at Dixie Baptist Church. In 2015, Pastor James became the youth pastor at Calvary Baptist Church. Pastor James teaches 11th grade Bible Doctrines. James is married to Tiffany Day (2nd grade teacher) and has two children, Sadie and Peyton. James enjoys the outdoors and is an average fantasy football manager.
Dr. Dana Everson
Dr. Dana Everson is a saxophonist, pianist, arranger, teacher, and music educator based in mid-Michigan. He has quietly been one of mid-Michigan’s outstanding saxophonists since the late 1970’s. He has over 400 published works.
Dr. Everson has a Doctorate of Ministry from Northland Baptist Bible College as well as Masters in Sacred Music from Pensacola Christian College and a Masters in Music from Michigan State University.
Dr. Everson has taught at the college level and is currently offering private lessons in multiple instruments as well as accompanying groups at Calvary Baptist Academy. He is very much over-qualified for his position as is a tremendous asset to the Academy.
Mrs. Gloria Everson
Gloria Everson started teaching the Concert Choir at CBA in 1980. She has studied at Delta College, MSU, U of M, and Interlochen National Music Camp. Her primary instrument is voice and continues to give private vocal lessons here at Calvary. She is married to Dr. Dana Everson, has 5 children and 7 grandchildren. Mrs. Everson loves teenagers and desires to train her students to use the ministry of music to their best ability for God’s glory.
Mr. Dan Forbes
Dan began teaching at CBA in 1980, after having taught six years in Elkhart, Indiana. His professional degree is a B.S. in History Education with a minor in Sociology and a Master of Arts degree in History. Dan teaches history and Bible and is the assistant principal for the high school. He is interested in reading history, doing woodworking, and eating pies. He is the chairman of Calvary Baptist Church’s Missionary Committee. He and his wife, Chreyl, have two children; Jenny (Michael) Muth and Nathan (Lissa) and they have six grandchildren.
Mrs. Lisa Grove
Lisa Grove grew up in Midland County, graduated from Breckenridge Jr./Sr. High School in 1989. She and her husband Matt have two daughters, Stephanie and Elizabeth. She has attended Calvary Baptist Church since 1995, helps in infant nursery, loves working with children, has worked in HTP as a teacher’s assistant since 2002, and teaches Jr./Sr. High Art. Lisa’s hobbies are crafting from recyclable materials, gardening and crocheting. She loves spending time with her family and friends. Her life verse is John 3:16.
Mrs. Mary Hillebrand
Mary is originally from the Ann Arbor area. She received a B.S. in Chemistry from Northern Michigan University, and a Master’s of Arts in Teaching Science Education from the University of Texas at Dallas. Most recently, Mary received the “highly qualified” status and teacher certification from the State of Michigan. Mary and her husband, David, accepted Christ in 1992 and have lived in both Chicago and Dallas so that her husband could pursue a Bible education. Mary has been teaching in Christian education since 1994 and at CBA beginning in 2006. Mary and David have two children, Jessica who is married and selling real estate in Dallas, Texas and Lydia who attends Calvary Baptist Academy. Mary is the sponsor for the 8th grade and the High School Honor Society as well as the assistant coach of JV Volleyball. She also coaches swimming with the Midland Dolphin and Barracuda Swim Team.
Miss Alisha MacQuarrie
Alisha grew up in a pastor’s family and trusted in Christ for salvation at an early age. Her
parents raised her with a desire to give God the glory in everything, and during a high school
chapel, she dedicated her life to full-time Christian service. After high school the Lord burdened
her to attend Northland International University to study English education where she cultivated
her love for the Lord, students, and all things English. She earned her B. S. in English Education
from Northland in 2008 and went on to earn her Master’s of Education degree in English from
Bob Jones University in 2010. Thereafter, she taught at the same Christian school where she
attended high school until 2012 when the Lord led her to teach here. She desires to glorify God
through her teaching—by exemplifying Christ, setting her students’ tastes for godly things, and
inspiring her students to develop the critical thinking skills that will enable them to biblically
discern in future decisions. She prays that the Lord will accomplish these goals and depends on
Him for the wisdom, strength, and grace needed to live her life according to His will. In her free
time, Alisha enjoys working in Awana and reading, both the classics and current adolescent
Mrs. Pam O’Shaughnessey
Pam has taught at CBA since 1993. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan. She taught 18 years in fourth grade and is currently the director of the Educational Support Program at CBA. She is a qualified screener for Dyslexia. Outside of school, she tutors dyslexic students. Pam has four grown children (Dani, Nate, Christina, and Michael) and three grandchildren. She is interested in Ireland and loves to travel.
Mr. Larry Stieve
Mr. Jeff VanDenBerg
Jeff has been on staff at CBA since September of 2007. He has a B.S. and Masters degrees in Music Education from Bob Jones University. Before coming to CBA to direct the bands, Jeff taught for three years in Fairfax, VA and six years in Longmont, CO. In addition to overseeing the music programs in both the church and school, Jeff directs the Elementary, JH and SH bands and the JH and SH choirs and ensembles. He and his wife Holley have three children, Emma, Peter, and Liddy.
Mr. John VanHolstyn (Coach V)
John has worked at CBA since 1984, he brought with him four years of previous teaching experience from the west side of Michigan. John has a B.A. in History and a B.S. in Education. He is the Athletic Director, Varsity Boys Soccer Basketball coach and Junior Varsity Boys Soccer coach. He teaches Bible and PE. He is an avid sportsman. He has been married to his wife, Roberta, since 1977. They have five children; Katie, Cheryl, Julie, John and Ben. He enjoys spending time with his family, deer hunting, fishing, umpiring softball and stock car races. John’s motivation for teaching comes from his life verses, Romans 12:1-2. He desires that his students wholeheartedly love and serve God with their lives.
Dr. David Warren
Pastor David has been on staff at CBC since September of 2003. He holds a Doctor of Ministry from Andersonville Theological Seminary as well as a Masters in Counseling and B.A.in Youth Ministries from Bob Jones University. At CBC he is the Discipleship Pastor which involves counseling, mobilization, Christian education ministries, adult ministries, and the drama ministry. Pastor David is also the Life Builders Sunday School teacher. Pastor David was ordained at CBC in 1998. From 1997 to 1999 he was the Youth Pastor at Temple Heights Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida and from 1999 to 2002 he was a family counselor at Boysville of Michigan. He is an avid fan of the University of Michigan and enjoys golf and computers. David and his wife, Maria have 3 children; twins, Brendan and Kirsten as well as Carson.
Mrs. Maria Warren
Maria graduated from Bob Jones University in 1997 with a B.S. degree in Speech Education and a minor in English. Maria currently teaches junior high English, speech and substitute teaches for CBA. Maria and her husband, David, have 3 children: twins, Brendan and Kirsten, and Carson. She enjoys leading CBC’s Mom’s Time Out ministry, helping her husband with the LifeBuilders Sunday School class and couponing.
Mrs. Denise Wiggins
Denise is excited to teach at Calvary Baptist Academy. A graduate of Bob Jones University, she began teaching in the of fall of 1992. Denise has experience teaching elementary as well as secondary subjects. She has been teaching fulltime at CBA since the fall of 2010. Denise is married to Neil Wiggins who pastors Hope Baptist Church in Hope, Michigan. They have four children: Anna, Nathan, Ashley and Amanda.
Mrs. Janae Winkles
Janae considers CBA her home since graduating from here in 1997. She then went on to Bob Jones University were she graduated with a B.S. in Family and Consumer Science and a minor in Office Administration. Janae started working at Calvary in 2004. Her first year, she taught a Keyboarding class to 7th graders and is now currently teaching Family and Consumer Science to 11th & 12th graders. When not teaching, you can find her working in the office as the receptionist. Janae and her husband David have two daughters, Miranda & Lyndsey.
